The only thing I love more than a good workout is a FREE workout. Classes are so expensive and living in a 2nd floor apartment means no cardio videos... Thankfully I found these two GREAT options for pilates and yoga workouts that don't involve me paying muchos dinaros to do.

If you go to http://www.yogajournal.com/podcast/, there is a free yoga podcast featuring moves for all levels of yoga practicers. It's very well done and only about 20 minutes long.

The second one is called POP pilates. If you go to youtube and type in pop pilates, many different 10 minute workouts pop up. (http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=pop+pilates&aq=f) Many are set to music and are so much fun! And from personal experience... they will kick your butt. LOVE THEM!!!! Just wanted to pass on this free opportunity to stay in the workout zone all year long!

America's Pastime

There is one HUGE reason I look forward to summer... besides the fact that I'm out of school for a few months, the weather is warm, and my legs actually get to see the light of day. I love summer because it brings baseball season with it!

I mean who doesn't love a good hot dog or brat, ice cold drinks, and listening to the consessions guy yelling "cracker jacks and peanuts" as he walks up and down the aisle. I mean it really is a paradise. There's nothing like it: the cheering, the smell of fresh cut gross, the awkward sunburns, the cursing of old men... it is a once in a life time experience.

The nice thing about baseball is that at the start of every new year, the teams are hopeful for a good season. This is especially important since my Rockies rarely ever show much potential beyond that of a 500 season. Every April I see the beginning of my dream of Rockies domination and World Series win... then every July I put my expectations to rest... My Rockies never let me down, but they never show enough talent, skill, and consistency to take them to the World Series. Nevertheless, they wake up everyday and play ball. I love that.

Today I had the opportunity to go to a game... which unfortunately ended in a loss. I mean what did I expect? They haven't won while I was at the game for years now. Sometimes I think I'm there jinx :( But it was so much fun to sit with family and enjoy America's pastime. I hope I get another opportunity again soon, but until then... GOOOOO ROCKIES!!!!!!!

(P.S. Until I'm sure I'm not the team jinx, I think I'll stay away from the stadium in hopes of increasing their chances of a playoff position :D)

Reality Sent a BIG Check

I began married life as most couples do... with the honeymoon. And like many people, I quickly was living in a blissful world where there were no responsibilities or stresses or problems.
See??? Clearly I'm living in happy land where everything is always rainbows and butterflies. That's why when I stepped off the plane after Mexico, I had a very tiny little panic attack. Suddenly I was faced with more responsibility than I was sure I was ready to handle. Then, we got back to our apartment and found something that looked a little like this.
BILLS. I'm not going to say that I'm a super nieve person and thought that housing paid for itself, but I never realized how much money you have to pay for things like electricity and water. And I had no idea start up fees for all the electricity and water and such even existed. Being a responsible adult really is not the walk in the park I was fooled into thinking. Apparently there isn't a bill fairy that magically takes care of all the bills. Such a bummer.

On the upside, owning my own apartment has drastically changed the way I clean my apartment. For those who thought I was a slob, you could eat off my floors now. Andy and I are doing so great at keeping a clean and tidy house. I hope this perk of responsibility remains!

From the Single Life to New Wife

Well folks, in all the excitement of the end of school, my missions trip to Honduras, and most importantly MY WEDDING... it has been quite some time since my last post. Since march, I've gone from single girl to married woman. Let me tell you... the transformation was less than impressive. If you were hoping for a blog about how different life is and how much I've changed... you are about to be severely disappointed.

Life is the same today as it was three months ago. The only difference is that I'm no longer spending my free time tying bows, making returns to hobby lobby, and mapping out wedding day timelines. Now I get quality time with my husband, time to read, and time to relax and enjoy my last summer break. Life feels right and no different than my previous life chapters, which makes me so happy since change is not something I am great at accepting.

I will say one thing about married life though. It's like a clean slate, a new beginning, both of which I'm embracing wholeheartedly! I get a new schedule, new habits, new attitude, new priorities and chores... and a new apartment :) I'm willing to take life in a different direction and, I can't wait to see where we will go!

Return of the Yo Yo Fad

I recently have become obsessed with creating quilting pieces that involve the yo yo. i mean seriously... is it NOT just the cutest decoration???

Here is the table centerpiece I made a while ago. It is a thimbleberries pattern and I absolutely love it! So Springy!

This is a pillow I just finished putting together to go on the couch in the family room! It was so much fun to do and it's so cute! plus it didn't cost 40 dollars... that's the biggest plus I can claim!

Finally, this is the current table runner I'm working on for the coffee table. It's going to be daisies instead of roses and such and matches the quilt I finished this summer with Grandmommy! it's going to go brilliantly with the pillow and decor of the living room! Never have I been so excited to decorate!!!

I'll post pics of the table runner when I finish... but it's definitely going to be a while since school is in it's final several weeks and nursing has me swamped until then... Oh, and the wedding planning... that's probably going to get in the way too. Until next time!

Dreamcatcher

It has been almost completely impossible for me to find bed sets that i actually like. I'm so particular and picky about it because I really like to rely on the "setting" of the room to relax. I can't stand busy paisleys or stripes or solid colors. i really seem to need a vast palette of color.

ANYWAY... I FINALLY FOUND SOME!!!!!!!!

I'm SUPER excited about this because up until now, I have not liked a single comforter that I have liked... or that had great decorative pillows that go with it. I'm all about the decorative pillows.

We don't even have a bed yet but it's so exciting to finally have a few potential options when the time comes. Wish I had more to update on but unfortunately between spring sing and nursing... I've been booked solid. Good thing spring break is around the corner and I'll be doing a TON.

Make Daddy Proud. Elope.

In the spirit of my previous post, I have gathered some more wedding stunners. Let's begin with the infamous dress. We all know it is the centerpiece of the entire wedding.... so for all you fashionistas, here's some forward fashion for you to consider:

For those wanting to imitate an intimate English style wedding, take this first style from Princess-To-Be Kate Middleton. For those who prefer a much less formal wedding, go for style #2. Just make sure you have some excellent tape and dolly-style knockers.

Dress #3 is especially made for those who wish to get married on the OC campus. I don't think Dean Bennett can find a single thing not covered adequately. If marrying internationally, make sure you include this awesome balloon dress. Perfect for that feeling of floating on air. just make sure you stay away from anything sharp. And for all you knitters out there, this do it yourself dress will be sure to draw the crowds attention! Best for that winter wedding.

Divas here and there LOVE dress #6. Attention will never leave you in this stunner. (Disclaimer: Surgery, ruffles, hair extensions, and P90X not included). Finally, celebrate your new years eve wedding with some jazz and pizazz! This ornament/balloon dress is sure to offer that holiday spirit without being "too christmasy".

It is important to also make your wedding unique to you. However, avoid these wedding day no-nos.

Advise from me: Don't be that couple that makes weddings awkward. Avoid cross-dressing and butt-grabbing. Though they may seem like a funny idea at the time, guests will not be pleased.

For all you joksters out there, be sure to include pics that make you happy... and make others laugh. However, riding a dirty bulldozer may leave unwanted scuff marks in addition to the always present danger of falling out after a bump. I don't think insurance will cover this potential doozie.

And for everyone who loves a good theme, here are some to inspire your special day. Plan ahead! Halloween only come around once a year!

Warning: the following may be too disturbing for some viewers.

If you want to be literal about the line "until death do us part", give this gothic style ago. Beware however that you will look deader than Ozzy Osbourne. Plan accordingly. And for those interested in scaring children, the clown theme is an excellent idea. The creepier the face the better the audience response. Also, consider learning sign language if miming your ceremony.

It is also possible to mimic Barbie Ice Princess for your wedding. Just make sure your guy is good with growing out his hair and dyeing it accordingly. Nothing says bride like Barbie.

And finally, these should NEVER be included in any wedding.

Lingerie belongs in the suitcase and should never be included in wedding attire. Who really wants to see that anyway.

Poor little vermin. I doubt they knew they'd end up sewn to a tailcoat. I guess this just proves men should not be allowed to pick what they wear.

Mermice. Nothing more needs so be said.

I'm officially out. peace and love- KB
